FAQs

Why are the online packs 16 mochi of one flavor?

To make sure your mochi arrives as fresh as possible, every order ships refrigerated with 2 lbs of ice packs and insulated packaging. Because cold shipping is heavy and can cost us up to $25 per box, smaller shipments just aren’t practical. A 16-pack lets us make refrigerated shipping worthwhile while keeping the mochi fresh, soft, and delicious when it gets to you.

We’re also actively working to get Made for MeiMei into more local cafés and grocery stores, so you’ll be able to get your mochi fix straight from a refrigerated grab-and-go near you!

What makes it protein?

Every mochi is supplemented with organic pumpkin seed protein. We’ve found it’s the smoothest most tasteless plant protein around. Rice was too gritty. Pea was too beany.

How do you store them? What’s the shelf life?

Because we ditched the artificial additives and preservatives, these mochi are perishable. Keep cold for optimal freshness! They are perfectly good on the go for 2 days at room temperature. In the fridge, they are fresh for 2 weeks. In the freezer, store for up to 4 months then just thaw and eat

Is this made with real ube?

Our mochi is ube-inspired in flavor, but our filling is made with a blend of roasted Korean chestnut sweet potato for deep, caramelized sweetness and Okinawan purple sweet potato for its naturally vibrant color and earthy texture. Ube is its own distinct ingredient — a purple yam, not a sweet potato — with deep roots in Filipino food culture and dessert traditions. We encourage you to look up its history and the role it plays in Filipino cuisine. For our mochi, we chose this sweet potato blend because it gives us the flavor, consistency, and color we wanted in a way we can source consistently and scale responsibly.

I’m diabetic, are your products safe for me to eat?

Everybody has different sensitivities to sugar and carbohydrates. Whether our products fit your diet is a personal choice and we always recommend that you consult your physician or a registered dietitian.

Do your products have refined sugar?

We use a small amount of organic cane sugar in the mochi dough because it helps create the soft, chewy texture and structure that makes mochi feel like mochi. We tested alternative no-sugar sweeteners in the dough, but they affected the texture and how well the mochi holds up.

The filling is sweetened with a monk fruit + allulose blend, which helps keep the overall sugar content low. Each mochi has just 4g of sugar while still tasting like a satisfying treat and not a health food.

What if my mochi arrives warm?

First, don’t worry! Made for Meimei mochi are only meant to be kept refrigerated/frozen to maintain the perfect taste and texture. Simply refrigerate or freeze as soon as you can. However, if your mochi arrives damaged or anything looks/smells off, email us within 24 hours of delivery with your order number and a photo, and we’ll make it right!

What’s your return policy?

110% satisfaction guaranteed or your money back! Yes, you read that right. We want every Made for MeiMei mochi experience to feel perfectly chewy, nostalgic, and totally worth it. Because our mochi is a perishable food product, we can’t accept physical returns for food safety reasons. Please don’t send mochi back to us! But if something isn’t right (your order arrived damaged, the texture felt off, or you simply weren’t happy) no hard feelings! Email us at hello@madeformeimei.com within 7 days of purchase with your order number and we’ll make it right with a replacement, refund, or store credit. If we missed the mark, we’ll add a little extra credit too.

If you bought Made for MeiMei from one of our retail partners (a store or cafe), the store’s own return policy will apply. But we still want to hear from you!

If your mochi wasn’t right, email us at hello@madeformeimei.com within 7 days of purchase with a photo of the product and we’ll do our best to make it right.
